“There was a lot of fear. Every morning the staff walked in, we walked in, and we didn’t know if it were that day we were gonna get Covid, or if a resident were gonna go down with Covid. So there were a lot of fear. However, we also had a lot of amazing times as well, because families in the March had stopped coming in, so we became family to all the residents. We didn’t want to just be a wave of purple uniforms, because that’s all they were seeing, especially the dementia residents. So yeah, we did overtime and we made it quite special for them. We had a party every day. And the staff, no matter how much they feared getting it, they walked through the doors with a smile on their faces. And the laughter was the most amazing feeling we got. They lifted us and we lifted them. If somebody got it, then we were all gonna be locked down here, so we brought some stuff with us. We were carrying clothes around, in case we got it and had to be locked down in the unit. So we wouldn’t take it home.”
