Mixing Roots - Hive South Yorkshire
Broomhall
Mixing Roots is a grassroots project run through Hive South Yorkshire and led by three African women. The project brings together girls and young women of colour (aged 13+) from different backgrounds & cultures, in a supportive space, to talk, share and write about everything from the roots we come from, and what has been passed down to us, to who we are today.
For this project, Mixing Roots ran a reflective creative writing and discussion workshop programme to encourage girls and young women of colour (aged 14 to 21) to reflect on the pandemic years in the ways they wish. This gave them a safe space, skills and the support to tell their stories and experiences in their own ways and produce writing to submit to a Mixing Roots anthology.
